Can one pipeline handle both LPG and Gasoline?

I'm diving into a study focused on cutting down infrastructure costs, and a question popped into my mind, could we use the same pipeline to transport LPG at one time and then switch it up for gasoline later? I'd love to hear if anyone here has experience with this kind of setup, or if you know about any restrictions, challenges, or even examples from the industry. Your thoughts and any case studies you might have would be super helpful
 
That's an interesting idea for cost savings, and it's technically possible to alternate. However, I think you could run into significant challenges with product contamination and the sheer logistics of switching between LPG and gasoline in the same pipeline. Different material compatibilities, pressure requirements, and cleaning protocols would make it highly impractical and costly to implement safely and efficiently in a real-world scenario. I'm not aware of any successful industry setup like this and I think it's better to have dedicated lines to avoid these issues.
 
Yeah, it can be done in theory, but in practice it's a headache. Don't try to switch between the two coz it results in a ton of safety and contamination concerns that most operators would rather just avoid.
 
Switching between LPG and gasoline in the same pipeline isn't typical...main issue is that LPG is a pressurized gas, while gasoline is a liquid at ambient pressure. Different handling, safety systems, and pressure ratings are needed and you'd likely run into serious code and material compatibility issues trying to share one line.
